The Malta Blood Donor Association aims to create awareness on blood donation and the vital role which blood has in saving lives and hence increase the number of persons who donate blood.
Donating blood is a generous and supportive act. Nevertheless, it must comply with certain rules that guarantee the safety of both the donor and the recipient. Indeed, people can give their blood only if they are healthy, weigh between 50kg and 160kg, and aged between 17 and 66. Each donator is interviewed by a doctor or nurse who verifies that he has no contraindications to donate blood.
