If there ever was a year fit to celebrate Halloween, it has got to be 2020. But whether you will have to sacrifice your trick-or-treating or your visit to the haunted house, one thing is for sure; you will not let 2020 ruin the fun.

But the question is, how can you celebrate? While most Halloween-related activities are designed to take place outside the home, we have come up with a couple of ideas to not let you and your kids miss out on the fun this year.

Here are 6 ways to enjoy Halloween 2020 indoors.

1. Watch some spooky classics

Whether you're into not-so-scary movies or peeing-yourself-when-hearing-a-strange-noise-at-night kind of movies, in this list you can find a variety of classics to watch with your whole family. The list is made up of nostalgic family-friendly Halloween movies – and a couple of others that you can watch with teenagers.

If you are more of a horror series lover, you can give the newly released The Twilight Zone, Haunting of Bly Manor or Lovecraft Country a try.

2. Organise a dinner party

Whether you are planning to invite friends or family over, you can organise the ultimate Halloween dinner party complete with costumes and spooky treats in the comfort of your own home. Put on your finest ghoulish outfit or opt for a homemade costume. Go a step further and decorate your home with skulls, pumpkins and other scary decorations – which leads us to the next point.

3. Decorate your home

A couple of Halloween trinkets here and there can go a long way – especially if you have kids. You can create a range of different decorations with your children, from spooky ghost balloons to wooly pumpkins. Follow this crafting guide on Yellow to get some fresh ideas for this year's festivities. What better way to spend some quality time with your kids now that they are back at school?

4. Bake some tasty treats

This season is all about treating yourself, which means only one thing in our books – a sugar overload. From spider-infested cakes to creepy mummy doughnuts, the internet is filled with fun Halloween recipes. Whether you would like to get super creative or bake a batch of easy-to-make cookies, these treats will definitely go hand-in-hand with your themed dinner party.

5. Enjoy spine-chilling cocktails

If you'd like a super tasty cocktail to booze up your Halloween, you can make your own ghostly blackcurrant spritz.

Ingredients

  • 2 Shots vodka
  • 4 Shots of blackcurrant juice (or any other flavour of your choice)
  • 400ml Prosecco
  • 100ml Carbonated water
  • Ice

Directions

Combine both vodka and juice together, pour over ice and top with Prosecco and carbonated water.

6. Host a virtual party

From a Halloween trivia night to just hanging out with your friends virtually, this one is a good idea for adults and teens. You can split your virtual guests into teams and play Charades, Pictionary, Bingo or Truth or Dare. Other Halloween-related activities include organising a virtual Jack-O'-Lantern carving contest with your friends.
